In the deep heart of winter, just past the solstice’s longest night, Jody's message invites us to pause our frantic light-making and instead turn gently toward the Dark. Drawing on personal experience, theology, science, and shared human story, she explores darkness as womb, teacher, and place of transformation. In both grief and loss, she reminds us that growth often happens beneath the surface. In embracing both the night around us and the darkness within, we discover resilience, compassion, and the enduring truth of our Unitarian Universalist faith -- that we are all held in an interconnected web of love, and we do not journey alone.
Jody Feavearyear is a long-time Unitarian Universalist. She is Secretary of the Board of Trustees, chairs our Social Action Committee and serves on the Worship Committee. Jody is an astronomer/physicist who teaches Astronomy at Coastal Carolina University.
